Le Mans MotoGP 2019 - IDP

Image
With all the uncertainty surrounding the UK's decision to leave the EU it has been suggested by the Department of Transport that our current photo driving licences will no longer be valid in Europe, or at least in the remaining EU countries. To get around this we need to go back in time and get an International Driving Permit.  Basically a cardboard and paper multiple language booklet that has stamps to show what licence entitlements you have.  They also have a photo on them and cost £5.50. But, not every country is signed up to the same Convention!  The last two in 1949 and 1968 have different signatories. What makes it confusing is that the EU27 are mostly signed up to the 1968 Convention but Spain (like the US) is still back in 1949! So to go to Spain after riding through France needs two IDP's!   They also have different validities.  1968 is three years and 1949 only one or the expiry of your UK driving licence whichever occurs soon...

Le Mans MotoGP 2019

It's been a bit quiet lately.  I have been planning a Devall Travel trip to Florida and Neill planning his " Fistful of Euros " long summer bike run to Spain and Portugal. Everything is booked. I have had another trawl through the hotel booking sites to see if there is anything on the market that might be nearer than the hotel we have booked.  There are a few but I don't have enough kidneys to sell to pay for them. So we stick with what we have booked. A chateau popped up at over £1000 a night. Would be nice but.....

Le Mans MotoGP 2019 - Booked

Both of us booked the Eurotunnel tickets yesterday. Out at 0920 on a Friday and back at 1650 on the Monday. Next job was to buy track tickets. That was done today.  So we're set.

Le Mans MotoGP 2019 - Pause

The hotel is booked and I have been looking to see if any nearer to Le Mans have come online. But so far nothing has popped up. Well, none at a reasonable price. There are loads on booking.com at over £500 a night. We have a slight pause just in case Arsenal reach the Cup Final.

Le Mans MotoGP 2019 - Tickets

With the hotel booked on the usual free cancellation/no prepayment basis we are in a dead zone until we decide that we are definitely going. Today I had an email from the ticket office to say that tickets for the event are on sale.  Eagerly, I clicked to see what the prices are for 2019. General admission to the track are €80 for the weekend and Grandstands with a booked seat are from €135. There are also a range of other stands for "fans". There is always a Valentino Rossi fan stand. I guess to sit there you need to make sure you have at least a yellow 46 cap and maybe say "for sure" in most sentences in English. But as for price. Who knows? On the website all grandstands come up as "SOLD OUT". Already? https://www.gpfrancemoto.com/en/grandstand/3-day-ticket

NL18-B Assen BSB - Eurotunnel

Booked today. Cost £64 for the car on top of the Assen MotoGP trip fare that I had parked with them after we couldn't go. To accommodate taking Reggie to the kennels for the weekend on Friday morning I have booked 28/9 1120 out and 1/10 1750 back. As we will be back too late to go and get him on the Monday I have Tuesday leave as well and so I can go and get him in the morning. posted from Bloggeroid
