After watching the MotoGP today on TV I thought about maybe another trip across next year to sit in the pissing rain trackside.... as we have done already in 2012 and 2019. The dates haven't been published yet but gambling on the same weekend as this year for 2022 I had a quick look through the accommodation on booking.com . This time I looked  nearer to the circuit than we found last two occasions. Then we had been in  Alençon,  either in the Formule 1 or the Resto Novo. Both around 35 miles north of the circuit. The GP  race day  was today 16th May 2021. Gamble 1 is that it it will be the weekend of 13th to 16th May.  Oddly, booking.com had a lot of places to choose from. With the filters set for free cancellation and no prepayment that was reduced quite  a bit but came up with a reasonably  priced  Appart'City Le Mans Centre. Only a fortnight to go and we will be off on the short run down through France to Alençon  and our hotel for the MotoGP weekend in Le Mans. I had a look at some routes to put into my TomTom. I copied them from Neill's MyRouteApp and then renamed them for my TomTom (with the AFR19 from end)  and added a fuel stop. With no tolls specified on the unit and in MyRouteApp it looks about 226 miles each way.  At cruising speed of say 70mph I'd expect the Rocket to need a fuel stop at around 170 miles, so I needed to add one stop.  This is based on me having a full tank before getting on the Eurotunnel train at the UK end and filling up at the Carrefour in  Alençon after Sunday's racing. The no tolls route still uses sections of Autoroutes between Calais and Rouen but these are the free sections and then national roads thereafter.  With speed limits vastly reduced on national and departmental roads that should do wonders f...

Tickets arrived.

It's been a bit quiet lately.  I have been planning a Devall Travel trip to Florida and Neill planning his " Fistful of Euros " long summer bike run to Spain and Portugal. Everything is booked. I have had another trawl through the hotel booking sites to see if there is anything on the market that might be nearer than the hotel we have booked.  There are a few but I don't have enough kidneys to sell to pay for them. So we stick with what we have booked. A chateau popped up at over £1000 a night. Would be nice but.....

Tickets went on sale today and Neill went online and bought them. We opted for the weekend tickets as they are only €10 more than Sunday only. Also collect on site was €1 rather than €30 for them to be sent DHL. All in €135.
